We opened on Highbury Park in 2009 and have never opened a second branch, because the second branch is where agencies stop knowing the streets.
Halden & Rowe was started by two people who had both spent a decade at corporate agencies and had both got tired of being measured on listings taken rather than on sales completed. The distinction sounds small and is not: an agency rewarded for taking instructions will overvalue to win them, and the property then sits.
We value on what has actually completed nearby, we write the comparables down, and we tell you the number we think will sell rather than the number that will make you instruct us. Roughly one seller in five goes elsewhere on the day. Those who stay usually sell.
There are six of us. Everybody here has walked every property on this site. Nobody in this office has ever sold a home they have not been inside.
