Three stages

Pick the age your child is now.

Each stage has its own timetable, its own class size and its own teachers. All three are published, hour by hour, so you can picture the day rather than take our word for it.

Early Years

FS1 and FS2 · ages 3 to 5

Most of the day is spent choosing. Water, sand, blocks, paint and a garden that is used in every weather except the worst of July. Phonics happens in groups of six, sitting on the floor.

  • 18 children, two adults

Lower Primary

Years 1 to 3 · ages 5 to 8

Reading gets serious and so does writing. Maths is taught first thing, when the room is at its sharpest, and every class gets twenty-five minutes outside before it.

  • 22 children, a teacher and an assistant
Upper Primary children at the science bench, one at a microscope and one with conical flasks, a skeleton and a blackboard behind them.

Upper Primary

Years 4 to 6 · ages 8 to 11

Specialist teaching starts here: science in a lab, computing on real keyboards, and a Year 6 that leaves able to sit an entrance test without being coached for one all year.

  • 24 children, a teacher and subject specialists
The fees

On the website, by year group.

From the head teacher

Sarah Kellerman

Head teacher since 2019

Parents ask me two questions on every tour. Will my child be known by name, and will they be pushed. In a school of 410 the first one is a promise I can keep, and the second is a matter of teaching maths when children are awake rather than when the timetable happens to have a gap.

Come on a Tuesday morning, in term time, when the school is doing what it normally does. Nobody tidies up for a tour here.

Life here

Football on Tuesday, choir on Monday, gardening on Thursday.

Eight clubs, a hot lunch cooked in our own kitchen, and a trip every term from Year 1 upwards. This is the page your child will scroll, so it has photographs of this school rather than of a stock one.

What parents say

We moved here in Year 3 from a much bigger school. Within a fortnight she was being asked about the book she was reading, by name, by a teacher who was not hers.

Reem A. · Parent, Year 4

The fees were on the website. That is genuinely why we came for a tour here first and not somewhere else, and I say that as someone who spent a month emailing schools for numbers.

Mark T. · Parent, FS2

My son does football twice a week and gardening on Thursday and talks about both the whole way home. I did not expect gardening.
